MISC. INFORMATION

As of this writing our 1967-1968 BEHS Cross Country Team is the only Bristol School Team to win a State Championship Cross Country Award over the past 41 years.

Coach Johnie M. Floyd was my mentor (Hall of Fame Member) all through high school which has allowed me to become a strong willed senior manager at Trumpf Incorporated in Farmington, Ct. I continue to actively participate in both 5 & 10k road races to keep- my cross country heritage in shape in honor of Johnie’s inspiration. More over, our 1967-68 State Cross Country Championship Team was the first team ever from Bristol to have an African-american (Willie Yopp) team member demonstrating the ethnic diversity of our team and true team spirit. Lastly if the Bristol Tramps (a team based Hall of Fame members) has been inducted already, our 1967-1968 State Cross Country Championship team should also become inducted as a result of our teams representation of Bristol athleticism. I look forward to becoming an award recipient in 2009 along with my fellow teammates as we truly exemplify the Hall of Fames Mission of preserving distinctive contributions to the sports heritage of the City of Bristol.
