BCHS Girls Soccer – took over program in ’94 that previously had 13 straight losing seasons; in ’97 his team made 1st tournament appearance and have been there 13 straight years since then. Had back to back undefeated 16-0 regular seasons in ’99 and ‘2000, both conference championship years for Central; ’99 team had a record of 17-1; best in school history as well as city history. From ’99-‘2000, ‘2001 had a 46-1-1 record scoring 256 goals, 28 shut outs both city & school records in boys and girls soccer. Have placed over 75 players on the C.C.C. South All Conference teams; had 6 All State Players in BriAnn Bruni, Tara Peterson, Stephanie O’Neil, Meredith Rogers, Samantha Webber, and Elise Galipo; 1 All New England player – BriAnn Bruni; ‘2000 team scored 105 goals allowed 4 and recorded 13 shut outs; city & school records both boys or girls soccer. Leading goalkeeper in school and city history is Sam Webber with 41 career shutouts. From 2005-2008 his team captured four straight C.C.C. South Championships going an incredible 34-1-5 over their divisional foes during that time they captured 6 Conference Championships overall and after 16 seasons has an overall record of 165-82-31 leading scorer in both boys or girls soccer for city and school records – BriAnn Bruni 97 total goals; leading goal keeper in city & school history both boys & girls Tara Peterson, 31 career shut outs. RECOGNITION YOU HAVE RECEIVED 2002 Connecticut State High Schools Coaches Association Coach of the Year for Girls Soccer. In 2006 received the Bristol Tramps Bill Garrett Award. In 2007 was selected Coach of the Year by the Connecticut Girls Soccer Coaches Association, and also in 2007 received the Ralph Papazian Award. TELL US MORE I was born and raised in Bristol all of my life. I attended St. Anthony’s Grammar School and graduated in ’63. I then attended St. Anthony’s high for two years and left because they discontinued all sports. During my Junior and Senior years, I attended Bristol Central High School and earned “Athlete of the Year” in ’67. I then went to Quinnipiac College for two years and transferred to Southern CT. State Univ. earning both a Bachelor and Masters of Science degrees in Physical Education and Health. I have been teaching and coaching in Bristol for 37 years. I am married and will be celebrating my 36th wedding anniversary in April ‘2010 and I have two children – Christina (30) who is in her 9th year teaching Spanish in Newington and my son Michael (27) who is in his 1st year of teaching science in Simsbury..
