He was involved in sports at Bristol High as a member of the school’s last class in 1959. He concentrated on basketball, but also participated in football, baseball and track.
Following his scholastic days, he played local Boys Club basketball through four decades, earning the reputation as an outstanding shooter. He’s been president of the Family Center and finance director at the annual Eastern Regional Little League Tournament for many years.
In 1986 he started and mentored, with the participation of his son Dave and four other mentally and physically disabled youth, what later became know as the Challenger Division of Little League Baseball, Inc.
In 2017 he was honored as the recipent of the Tony Savino “Pay it Forward” Award from the Bristol Tramps.
