Track – Bristol High 1948-49; Captain  Coach – Scotty Carter; Hartford Invitation Indoor track meet; mile 4th place first competitive race; Hartford Invitation Indoor track meet 8 lap relay 1st place; CIAC indoor track & field champions mile 2nd place; Inter-class meet mile & half mile – 1st; In eight dual meets defeated only twice; YMCA Invitational won the mile and half mile; State Invitational mile – 5th time 4:43.  Cross Country Bristol High School, 1949 Captain competed 1 year, coach Daniel Griffiths; undefeated in dual competition; set record for Page Park course (14:32) 2.6 mile course; team won 6 and lost 2; CIAC State meet 5th place (140 runners from 17 high schools); Thanksgiving Day Manchester 5 mile road race – 13th place – 3rd in high school division – time 27:26.  Track – CCSU 1950-53; Coach – Dean Owens. In most dual meets I would run the mile, 2 miles and sometimes on the mile relay team.  Broke the mile record 1951 4:53; tied the half mile record (2:06:1) 1952; broke two mile record 10:31.5 – 1952; member of mile relay team that broke record (3:39.8); Metropolitan small college invitational – 2 miles = 1st 10:33.3 TCC won the metropolitan small college invitational and most of its dual meets in 1952 & 1953.

The teams I coached in Bristol did not have a practice field or gym at the school and so it was necessary to travel for all practices and games.  Coaching was done in addition to a regular teaching assignment.  I still remember most of the players I coached and see them from time to time.
