Swimming:  Boys Club, Jr. & Sr. Swim teams; First president of Boys Club swimming associations.  Earned Varsity letter in diving and swimming – freshman year.

1945 – member of U.S. Naval airfield swimming team, Corpus Christie, Texas.  Competed in the All Naval Conference Swim meet, 200 & 400 freestyle.  Life Guard in Navy ’45 & ’46. Also trained Navy Pilots – water survival.  Lifeguard at Rockwell Park & Boys Club.

Boy Scouts – spent one summer season at Camp Cochipiannie as Assistant Water Front Director and Life Guard.
