Marie O’Brien, appointed by Governor Jodi M. Rell to be the first woman President of the Connecticut Development Authority, discussed coming from a large family and everyone chipping in to make the family a success. Taking that same principle to her various career opportunities has proved to be very valuable. In addition, she challenged the students to volunteer in the field or career they may want to pursue. She cited examples with the medical field, education, and business.
Her Leadership style was on of involvement and getting people to work together. One should not be afraid to voice their opinion and stand up for what you believe in.
