He played both baseball and basketball at St. Joseph’s School before going on to letter three seasons in football at Bristol High where he was a co-captain his senior season as a member of the class of 1952.
He went on to play football and baseball in the U.S. Army, playing two years in Austria. He was a tri-captain in Army football in 1954.
On the semi-pro level, he played football two years for the Middletown Warriors and baseball one season with the Sessions baseball club.
Among the championship baseball teams he played on were the Bristol American Legion baseball team, Bristol Hill-Toppers and those in the Army in Austria.
He was a founder of Midget Football in Bristol and organizer of the successful sports program for the 100th anniversary celebration of St. Joseph’s School.
